"10 Day You Challenge" - Seven Wants

Hello Muggles,

so far, I really enjoy doing the challenge although I found it difficult to write down today's seven wants. I'm not comfortable with saying: "I want this, I want that!" so it might have turned out a little cheesy -> meaning me wanting world peace. :'D

I hope you have fun anyway. ;)

***

 ***

1) Peace
Well, I just start with the biggest cliché: World Peace. No, I'm not a beauty peagant lady, I'm just a little (well, actually rather tall) girl in a huge world full of more or less crazy people and I'm addicted to harmony. ;) There is just no reason for some powerful (wo)men to run around the world fighting like little children!

2) University Degree
My university time will only start in October but I'm already looking forward to finish it. I love learning new things and I can't wait to do English and German all day long but somehow I just want to be finished with education and starting to live a nice family life. :)

 3) Furniture
Uh, it's getting materialistic. Yes, indeed. ;) I moved into my own flat with my boyfriend in July and we still don't have cupboards in our living room (except for one, which is full of Nintendo, Sega, PlayStation and XBOX stuff...). This is just the one thing missing - I could go on about new curtains, a proper sitting area for the kitchen and everything you connect with decoration items, but who wants to know all that, huh? ;D

This is what my living room currently looks like... NOT! But isn't it pretty as a pink hell?

4) See the world
This is not just a "want" - it is a "need"! I'm so sick of my hometown and Germany in general. It's okay living here but I just never travelled a lot in my life. I need to see other countries and cultures and I would love to settle down in England one day. Places I would love to visit you will see tomorrow when the challenge topic is "six places". :)

5) Kindle
I really enjoy reading books and I love pretty covers and to thumb through books but sometimes they can be very pricy why I always have to lend them in a library. I also need at least one book to take with me when I'm out and sometimes my beloved books can be very bulky. This is why a Kindle would come in handy. It's just very practical and now that every 2nd person has one they got very cheap. Looking forward to christmas. ;)

6) Summer
Although autumn just started I want summer to come back as soon as possible. Don't get me wrong I'm super excited for christmas and I'm in a christmassy mood already but I miss the sunshine and temperatures already.

7) My Own Stories Published
I am writing and would love to hold my own book in my hand one day. Since my sister became an author and published her books this dream doesn't seem to be too far away. It is possible and I'm also quite confident about making it one day.

I hope you had some fun.
Feel free to do the challenge on your blog as well and don't forget to leave a comment. You can also just write about your "seven wants" in the comment section down below! ;)

See you next time,
Hermione

"10 Day You Challenge" - Eight fears!

Hello Muggles,

here we go again. If you already read through my past two challenge-days: I'm glad you're still hanging on! If not: read them!! ;D

 ***

***

Eight fears

1) Darkness
I am a scaredy cat and unfortunately I could write down 100 fears but the thing I am most afraid of is darkness. After thinking about it quite long I can't even explain why I am so terrified of it. :/

2) Silence
With this it's quite similar to my fear of darkness. I just don't like it at all. Most people (my boyfriend in particular) really enjoy the countrysides quitness while I only sit there freaking out because you can't even hear a car passing by.

3) Paranormal stuff
I do believe in ghosts and demons and all that and I don't want to be scared of it but I am. When my nieced or my nephew slept over at my place and they said: "Becky, I'm afraid of ghosts showing up." I always answered: "Ohhh, don't worry. Just ask them for a cup of tea! ;D" But in reality just the word ghost makes my head go insane. :(

4) Horror
Does this even make sense? Can you be afraid of horror? What I mean by that is that I can't watch any horror film at all and I don't want to have anything to do with anything horror-related.

5) Having an unfulfilled life
What I am also afraid of is that I will die one day not having done things I dream of. Two major things I "want" before dying is having a baby and seeing the world. I never had the opportunity to travel a lot and I just can't stand the thought to be in Germany for the rest of my life. Not because it's so awful over here but because I need more in my life. I need new cultures, climes and landscapes!

6) Dying in pain
By this I don't only mean to suffer in the last few minutes / seconds of my life but also to like die in an apocalypse or something like that. I really don't want the world to be more destroyed than right now - ever. :/

7) Losing loved ones
To be honest I'm not surrounded by a crowd of people and this is why I value every single person of my family or friends even more. I don't want anything bad happen to them and if I could I would put them all in a big bubble so they're always save. :)

8) Speed
This is a strange one. What I mean by being scared of speed is for example when I'm sitting in a car and the driver goes super fast I'm like "Oh my goooood, drive slower!" - same thing when I am a passenger and cars drive "next to me" extremely fast like it happens in front of my house every day. o.o Strangely I don't mind trains or planes to go even faster than cars. :'D

***

Okay, so now that I'm finished I'm not sure if I really want to upload it... you must think of me as a total wreck. :D I'm okay though. ;)

Please leave a comment or do the challenge as well and link your blog in the comment section down below - that would make me happy! :)

Have a beautiful day and see you next time,

"10 Day You Challenge" - Nine loves

Hello Muggles,

it's time for another part of the "10 Day You Challenge"! :)

9 Loves

1) My family
I'm especially talking about my boyfriend and my dog Baylie because I live with them and I am surrounded by them every single day.

This obviously is not my dog and my boyfriend but my dog and my Mom's cat Lizzie... after I  caught them red-handed sleeping in my old bed! :D

2) England
I just love the language, England as a country (sadly I've never been to the rest of GB) and the little things about the english culture. Take the beautiful cottages and gardens for example... although I'm probably a little too tall for those tiny houses I would love to live in one! :)

3) Harry Potter
Seriously, what is there to say? I already did several Blog posts about my passion for Harry Potter. You can read about my Harry Potter history here or have a look at what I think about the Harry Potter Audio Books (UK Version) over heeeere. ;)

4) Spring / Summer
I already feel my winter blues coming. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I don't feel very good on cold days. Although I don't like to be in the bare sunshine because my skin is quite sensitive I definitely need sunshine and warmth! This is why spring and summer are my favourite seasons and although summer just ended I can't wait for the first day of spring when the air smells flowery and warm. :)

5) Sweets
I'm not a good role model at all... because I eat more sweets than other "grown ups" in their whole life. I can't help it but when people ask me about my favourite food the first thing that comes into my mind is "Cake!" (followed by salad, which is way better ;)) You can't say that freaking cake is your favourite food? How strange am I? Or better say: What did sugar turn me into? o.o I smell a conspiracy over here!

Oreo cupcakes I made for my brothers birthday. :)

6) Animals
Who doesn't love animals? They are the most pure creatures in the world and don't do anything to harm anybody - if a lion kills an antilope it is only natural because it's a cat of prey. (Human beings are, in my opinion, not allowed to kill animals because we don't live in a world where it's all about hunting for surviving. It is also proven that the human set of teeth is not for eating meat but vegetables, grain and seeds!) My favourite animals are Koalas - I love them since I can remember. Probably because I always watched a show called "Blinky Bill". Is this popular in the UK and the rest of the world as well? :)

7) Books
It's time for me to say that this is in no specific order because I love books a little more than sweets for example. ;D Well, what fascinates me in books and literature is the fact that you are able to "be another person" while reading because - in the best cases - the author "pulls" you into the action and you experience everything through the characters of the story.
I don't have a favourite genre I like to read but my favourite books in general are: Harry Potter (as you all know now) and "Der Märchenerzähler" by Antonia Michaelis, who is a German author. I definitely have to do a Blog post about it although it's German because it changed something deep inside of me. It's quite rough and hard to read but beautiful at the same time. :)

8) Children
Although this may sound strange but I think with children it's similar to what I wrote about animals: they are pure. Childhood is something beautiful I think. Everything is new and exciting and you are allowed to create your own opinions about everything and in the best case you don't have anybody standing next to you saying what you should think - children should be free. They should be able to form their free minds themselves and childrens free spirits are what I love. :) I always wanted to work with children and doing English but couldn't figure out a way to do so except for teaching and I now know that this wouldn't be my thing for 100 %. I think it's better for me to have my own children one day - and I'm super excited for this time to come! :)

9) Freedom
I think there's not enough freedom in our society at all although everybody is always proud of how "free" we are in Europe. Would you like to hear what I think about it? It's the biggest lie ever. Probably the majority here isn't happy because they feel they have to do things like go to work 5 days a week from 8am - 4pm, buy a house and a nice car, have two perfect children etc. I would like people to be theirselves and do what they really want to do - to be free and not to change theirselves to fit in this strange world. :/  Difficult topic to talk about, I think!

I hope you enjoyed that little "view into my life".
Leave a comment and have a wonderful day!

See you next time,
Hermione

"10 Day You Challenge" - Ten Secrets!

Hello Muggles,

recently I saw this challenge on Haleys blog (Water Painted Dreams) and I thought it's veeery interesting, so of course I had to do it as well. :)

The title is a little bit odd I think. Is "10 day you challenge" proper English? I don't know.
The idea of posting 10 days in a row scares me a little because I really don't want you to be bored - but we'll see how it ends up.

I hope you like the general idea of it - feel free to join in and do the challenge as well! :)

As you can see on the picture, it all starts with 10 secrets and the majority of them is not a secret in general but it is for you because my time in blogging-world just started a few months ago. ;)

1) I'm addicted to Nutella. Not good at all, I know but I just have been loving it since I can remember!

2) Darkness and silence scare me to death - this is why I often sleep with a little light on listening to audiobooks... like a child. :'D

3) I've never ate an Avocado o.o

4) I always have to get rid of spiders because I'm the only person in my surroundings, who is not afraid of them. I actually wanted one as a pet... but I decided not to get one because I wouldn't be able to feed it cockroaches and things like that because I think cockroaches are the most disgusting things in the world. Sorry to say that because they are animals and general beings on our planet but I freak out thinking of them - urrrrgh!

5) I'm still with my first boyfriend ever - and we're together for about six years now. :)

6) I can't drink tea without sugar.

7) I'm not a religious person because I just can't fit into any religion I know. Maybe you can say that I'm spiritual but not religious. The actual thing I wanted to tell you is that I believe in reincarnation and karma. I for myself believe that you can choose your next life after dying.

8) Don't know if this really is a secret but I just started being interested in beauty and stuff in December 2011 - because of a German Youtuber called Reni (www.youtube.com/user/xKarenina).

9) In January 2012 I stopped eating meat after doing a project for my art classes in school where I had to find out things about  industrial livestock / factory farming - I'm still more than shocked about it. I never ate much meat and when I was about 15 I didn't eat any meat for a year but somehow I started it "a little" again and I honestly don't know why. :(

10) I was quite obsessed with Hilary Duff. I still "like" her because I think she is very sympathetic, lovely and just a nice girl. :) And she is BEAUTIFUL!! *.* (But yesterday I watched her film "Beauty and the Briefcase" and I think it was horrible! :D)

I hope you liked that.
Please leave a comment - especially if you also do / did the challenge on your Blog and if you like Hilary Duff! :)

See you next time,
Hermione

I am a little shocked... (Guru Gossip)

Hello Muggles,

this post will be a little different from the rest. I am quite shocked right now and would really appreciate if you read what I'm writing right now and if you could leave a comment telling me your point of view in the comment section:

Today I found a website called Guru Gossip because I was "googling" Voussontbeauetbelle. Sounds quite strange, huh? I just wanted to find her Tumblr page because I loved to watch her videos on Youtube but because of her illness and the "hate towards her" she stopped doing them and paused Youtube for a while.
Nevertheless, the second website I found was called "Guru Gossip" and I thought: "What is it and why is it the second top website when looking for Becca?" (this is the Youtubers name I was looking for) Well, I clicked on it and read a little through it.

The basic concept of "Guru Gossip" probably is just to offer a platform where you can talk about Beauty Gurus and Bloggers BUT there is something going very wrong on this page. Almost every famous Youtuber gets beat up to the worst! I never read more cruel things about people! From quite "harmless" accusations of Youtubers copiing each other to super mean things about not being hygenic but dirty and the biggest liar in the whole world.

Of course, you can't be sure that everything a Youtuber / Blogger tells you is true BUT you can just stop watching their videos / reading their Blogs. I think it's very cruel to be this mean and negative. There is so much hate going on that website - I still can't believe it! I am hurt how disrespectful and mad human beings can be! Those people, who write those things are probably just as horrible as the people who authorize all the comments. If I were one of the Youtubers they talk about I would probably break down, as well, and I can now understand how Becca must have felt because especially in her case those people crossed all lines possible. They taxed her with being fake and wearing extensions and literally spied on her dad's ebay account to prove what she was buying on ebay. Hello, how sick can you be? Looking all over the internet for an ebay account of a Youtubers father?? No, I can't deal with that!

This will probably be a bit harsh of me but I think that lying and gossip has become "cool" and harmless in our society. I, for example, never couldn't understand why people would watch Gossip Girl, Desperate Houswifes and Pretty Little Liars (just those three shows as an example). I looked at some episodes just to get a proper idea what the topic is and I was appaled of the "morals" those shows impart.
I don't want to "attack" you if you like those shows but I just can't comprehend it and think the messages the shows spread are very wrong.

I don't want anyone to feel insulted (except for the really cruel people of Guru Gossip maybe - this is just wrong!) but just advance my view on my personal Blog.

Nevertheless, I hope you have a nice day!

Please leave comments telling me your opinion. Do you think the same about Guru Gossip or do you maybe think I'm the mental one? Be honest in the comment section down below! ;)

Hermione

Tips for school (A-Levels) #4: Ask questions!

Hello Muggles,

today it's time for my fourth school tip. I hope you find it helpful. ;)

4) Ask questions!

-> There often are situations in which you think you got / understood what your teacher or a classmate just told you but while working you realize that you just didn't. This is nothing bad - you're a student and you can't know anything and there is nothing wrong about not understanding things at the first time! What is wrong is to leave it like that and accept it. Better ask questions. Deal with your specific problem and filter what you understood and what you didn't.
If you feel uncomfortable asking in front of the whole class you can always ask your classmates / teachers afterwards, in free periods or maybe during break. ;)

Leave a comment down below saying if you like my tips for school or if you maybe have some yourself! :)

Tips for school (A-levels) #3: Do your homework! :)

Hello Muggles,

today it's time for the 3rd part of my tips for school. I hope you find it helpful!

3) Do your homework!

-> Oh, I know how lame that sounds but seriously: Doing your homework is the best thing you can do. You can easily build a base by doing homework.
Why? Actually your teacher's task is to give you homework so you can do some revision of what you already learned in the last lesson! I know that many teachers just let you do "new" things for homework but then it's your duty to talk to them. ;) (This is tip #5 actually)
By doing your homework you also have something to say during lessons. Talking in class is very important for your marks and reading out your homework always gives you some extra points. Teachers will appreciate your effort! ;)
Doing homework and reading them out or giving them to the teacher especially is helpful in classes / lessons / courses you're maybe not that good in. Let's take myself for example: I hated math! I really hated it and I didn't understand one single bit of what my teacher was telling me during lessons - so what I did (not often enough though -.-) was doing homework with the help of classmates or friends and giving them to the teacher after / before the lesson. The teacher then can see that you did something at home and that you are interested in getting better. ;)

That was it for tip #3. I hope you enjoyed it.

Leave a comment down below saying if you like my tips for school or if you maybe have some yourself! :)

Update!

Hello Muggles,

on Monday I started a Latin-Course at University because I need a qualification in Latin for English Studies (which I'm going to study in October - my second subject is German Language and Literature).
It is a crash course, so I have to go there 5 days a week for 3 weeks.
I knew that it was going to be time-consuming but I really realized it when we were told that we will learn as much in 3 weeks as other learn in 3 years in school. So I think you get the problem. ;)
There are lots of vocabulary and grammar to learn and this is why I won't have a lot of time for blogging in the next three weeks.
I also started to work in a cram school, where I "teach" five hours a week and I'm teaching 3 1/2 hours private.

I hope you understand that I don't have this much time right now.
Nevertheless I will post my "Tips for school" because I already wrote every single tip and I just have to publish it here. :)

If you like to you can leave me a comment about your current school / university / job situation - that would be interesting!! :)

I hope you have a good time!

See you next time,
Hermione

Tips for school (A-levels) #2 : Be organized!

Hello Muggles,

today it's time for my 2nd tip for school. I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful! ;)

2) Be organized!

-> This must sound strange but my holy grail in school was my homeworkplanner!
I had quite an easy system, which worked pretty well. Here in Germany we got some planners that have some space on each site where you can write down your subjects for each day - the important thing is to write down your homework and everything else you have to do into the space / day when you have to have them. I know my english is horrible right now but for example: You have to do your maths homework until August 24th then write them down on this particular day. So you can easily see what you have to do for every day.
I'm sure many people do that anyway but a lot of my class mates just didn't own a planner at all or wrote everything down on one single sheet of paper, which starts to look messy and confusing very fast.
This makes me think of tip # 3, which will be up next week! :)

There will be eight more tips in the next eight weeks, so please keep your eyes open and leave me a comment, saying if this is helpful for you or you like / dislike the idea in general! :)

#1: Choose the right courses (click here to read it)
#3: Do your homework (07.09.12)
#4: Ask questions (14.09.12)
#5: Talk to your teachers (21.09.12)
#6: Take breaks (28.09.12)
#7: Form study-groups (05.10.12)
#8: Read the lectures (12.10.12)
#9: Repeat before exams (19.10.12)
#10: Eat / Drink enough ;) (26.10.12)

I hope you liked it!

Rainy Day OOTD (unconventional)

Hello Muggles,

since I got my aubergine-coloured H&M super pants (xD) I wanted to do an Outfit of the Day post!
I just love these pants because of their colour and wearing comfort - it's unbelievable how comfy they are. ;)

Well, the problem always was and still is that I don't have the best opportunities to take pictures of myself (I hate take pictures of myself in addition!) because I don't have a big mirror yet aaand I also don't have anyone else to take pictures of me (what I hate more than taking pictures of myself is letting other people take pictures of me!) - you see the dilemma! xD

Today I just felt like doing it anyway... and so I did. I hope you have a little fun at least. ;)

What I'm wearing (Fashion):
Minni Mouse Shirt - H&M (from London - oh yeah! :D)
Aubergine Super Pants (this is how I will call them from now on :D) - H&M
Olive Parka - H&M
Scarf and hat, bonnet whatsoever - H&M
Shoes - Vans (bought them on ebay)

And this is me (because I didn't really showed my face before) having a bad hair day.

What I'm wearing (Beauty):
Catrice Eye Brow Stylist in 020 - "Date with Ashton"
Manhattan Professional Mascara
Catrice Colour Infusion Longlasting Lipstain in 020 - "Rose Wood Avenue"
Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus

I hope you liked that post even though it's quite different from other people's OOTD's. :)

See you next time,
Hermione

OH, and to everyone, who's going back to Hogwarts today: HAVE FUN! :D
